Integration support and assistance

Thanks to the progress achieved in medical science and the highly effective antiretroviral combination therapies available since the mid-1990’s, people with HIV/AIDS today can, as a rule, live and work normally. Even people who in the mid-1980s were diagnosed with the infection (at the time typically considered terminal) once again feel like they have a future, with many of them wanting to be professionally active (again).

Many governmental and private institutions are working to ensure that people with HIV/AIDS continue to exercise their specialised skills and to put their know-how to work for the benefit of their profession.

MOVIS - www.movis.ch (only available in German or French)

MOVIS offers advice and support to employees, managers and personnel departments on personal, social and health problems in the world of work. Movis aims at augmenting and reinstating performance levels, as well as professional and social reintegration wherever the ability to work is threatened by illness or accident. They offer the following services:

  • Corporate social-advisory services/staff advisory services
  • Case management
  • Health management

The Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO)www.bsv.admin.ch

It falls to the responsibility of the FSIO to take care of and modify the social welfare network in such a way that it can continuously meet new challenges. On its website, you will find information and documentation on the topics of state pension plans, disability insurance, supplementary benefits, occupational pension funds, income compensation for those in military service and during maternity leave, as well as family allowance.
